About
WHAT IS ROCK STEADY BOXING POWer AT PINE RUN VILLAGE?
This comprehensive, person-centered, fitness program, is designed to combat the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease in a supportive environment for people living with PD and their care partners. The structure of each non-contact boxing class follows the Rock Steady Boxing guiding principles based upon the concept of “forced intense” exercise with a goal to improve balance, endurance, strength and agility; it organically creates a great sense of community within a fun experience!
PROGRAM DETAILS
• To start you off on the right foot each participant will meet with a Parkinson’s POWer coach for an assessment to build an individualized exercise plan.
• When you become a member, your care partner a.k.a. “corner person” can join you in the classes offered, take a walk around the beautiful grounds of the community, or workout in the Fitness Center for no additional fees.
• Fight back with Two + Rock Steady Boxing sessions per week.
• There are two levels of classes: RSB and RSB Lite. The differences between the two are length of class, intensity of exercises, and how the class itself is structured. The goal for the levels is to ensure all boxers are challenged at the appropriate level and feel successful.
• Access to other Pine Run Village fitness classes, like Chair Yoga and Aqua FLEX-Ability.
*Participants must have a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease and obtain medical clearance from their physician in order to qualify for the program.
